Between Bodies Announce Debut Album

Indie punk rockers Between Bodies have announced their debut album Electric Sleep for fall with the new single.

Hailing from Cologne Paderborn and Toronto, Between Bodies, quickly won a place in the hearts of fans with their ’00s and early 2010s emo-punk sound.

With their latest release, Stronger Than Me, singer and guitarist Christopher Schmidt processes a conflict in his family.

In his teens, he learned that his grandfather had been hiding an illegitimate child. Schmidt’s mother tried to approach and contact her half-sister but was rejected by the rest of the family. Her father had never apologized to her afterwards. “When he became very ill and was ultimately dying, there was a conversation in which my grandfather said he wasn’t strong enough to work through this history, but that it was good that my mother did what he couldn’t,” Schmidt says of the song’s content.

As for so many bands, the pandemic has had a major impact on Between Bodies’ creative work. Over the past two years, the band has used the time during numerous lockdown nights to tinker with new music using Dropbox folders and in Zoom sessions. A big challenge for everyone involved, as the band only released their very first songs shortly before the pandemic began and just managed to play a few concerts.

Debut album Electric Sleep will be out on September 30th via KROD Records.
