UK punk outing will be headlined by The Stranglers, Sham 69, Cock Sparrer and Stiff Little Fingers.
UK punk festival Rebellion will return to Blackpool in August, when its annual outing will be headlined by The Stranglers, Sham 69, Cock Sparrer and Stiff Little Fingers.
Joining those genre-defining acts will be the eclectic and theatrical ‘gypsy punk’ band Gogol Bordello. Hailing from Manhattan, their members come from Ukraine, Ecuador, Russia and Ethiopia to create a global punk sound.
Rebellion, which was originally launched in 1996 as Holidays In The Sun, will also feature up-and-comers like The Chisel, The Meffs, Grade 2, Bar Stool Preachers, HotWax, and Meryl Streek.
All told Rebellion, the largest independent punk festival in the UK, will have over 300 bands and artists performing across the Winter Garden’s multiple stages with something for everyone.
That includes the very roots of the movement, which will be present in the proto 60s garage punk of Love guitarist Johnny Echols, performing with his version of the psychedelic legends, as well as 1970s glam stompers The Sweet, who left their mark on the first wave of punk.
Rebellion Festival 2024 takes place 1–4 August at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool
