New Welsh punks Baby Schillaci continue to showcase their range in new track and video.
Back in February we had the rollicking debut ‘Radical‘- a track that we described as having “energy, heart and combative swagger of the best post-punk”.
Then there was a slight change of tone and direction with second single ‘So Bad‘ released in April. A slower, more sultry sleaze-rock affair, the four-piece showed they were willing and able to experiment with different sounds and would keep us guessing what their next single would have to offer.
And now we know! Third single ‘Dead Wrestlers‘ channels the industrial brood of Nine Inch Nails and the raw, indie punk energy of fellow Welshmen Manic Street Preachers.
Lyrically beginning with a powerful rebuttal to Baz Luhrmann’s ‘Everybody’s Free‘, challenging the notion that we can all be anything we want to be.
Baby Schillaci’s lyrics delve deeper into the reality that sometimes fate has other plans. But instead of being a downer, the band’s morbid curiosity of mortality and tragedy fuels a high-energy, aggressive assault that is sure to get your blood pumping!
The video intersperses footage of the band’s energetic live shows with sombre close-ups of the band performing the lyrics which sing of a “harrowing ride through the Shakespearean fate that has befallen so many stars.”
And if that isn’t what you want in a punk song, then I don’t know what is!
‘Dead Wrestlers‘ is out June 2nd. Explore your streaming options HERE!
