The Folkestone 4-piece mix things up with a new DIY release
This six-track EP release from Zombie Killers is a refreshing listen, I must say. Hailing from Folkestone, UK, this female fronted band have been working hard on the gigging circuit since their two year inception. As a result, their kitty money has gone into releasing this colourful platter in true DIY fashion (who needs record labels when you can do it all yourself?). The ‘Nuked‘ EP exploded onto the Punk scene on October 17th of this year, and can be purchased HERE on coloured vinyl, CD and cassette (for all you retro-heads out there).

Zombie Killers are :
Oceanne – Vocals
Tom – Guitar
Charlie – Bass
James – Drums
‘Necro Disco‘ is also metal-edged in style, with some interesting time signatures on display. The drumming is mighty impressive on this song, and this song also showcases the Zombie Killers at their most experimental. It’s also my favourite song on this record, probably for that very same reason.
‘Four Chord Punk!‘ does pretty much what it says on the tin, but going by the lyrics, I’m assuming they are criticising the pop-punk genre? I can certainly see their point with a lot of those meaningless songs out there, but I do personally enjoy a tune with minimal chords. Otherwise, we could be verging on prog rock territory, and no punk rocker wants that!

The final song on this release is called ‘Eat, Shit, Die‘, which I suppose pretty much sums up our existence. It starts off with a metallic chugging guitar riff and tribal drums, before ripping us a new one with a speedy dual-vocal, hardcore attack. We are treated to some slow paced doom metal in the mid-section, which lulls us into a false sense of security, before ripping our heads off once more, and serving up some more ferocious hardcore mayhem.

Zombie Killers are also currently writing new material, and have plenty of gigs on the cards too, so check them out at the venues below:
Sat 29th November – The Ship, Gillingham (Alldayer….Headlining)

I have been writing reviews for Brighton & Hove News, and more recently Vive Le Rock magazine for a few years now. Previously, I could be spotted playing drums for many a band over the decades. A noisy habit developed whilst wearing short trousers at school, and one that has had me touring around the UK and Europe. Punk rock is my life, but I am also quite eclectic. I am an avid gig go-er and music devourer, and can feel out of sorts if a gig date is not on the horizon. I have also been known to put gigs on myself in order to fill those gaps.

Did you know that we are 100% DIY? We run our own game. No one dictates to us, and no one drives what we can or cannot put on our pages – and this is how we plan to continue!
