Drawing a huge crowd for a Thursday, TV Smith stunned us with songs old and new
Punk legend TV Smith may just be one man with an acoustic guitar, but the founder of The Adverts can still fill a room with sound, as evidenced during his first gig at The Face Bar, Reading on 20.02.2025 – what an outstanding show! The crowded room was full of local fans, plus some who had travelled from afar, taking the opportunity to see him. TV Smith was only doing 3 UK gigs before Rebellion Festival this August.
Tim is a brilliant singer songwriter, and through his vast collection of material, he makes very valid points about how messed up the world we live in actually is. There was no support act tonight, so he gave us a two hour set, singing some of his new and older songs, which of course immediately had the crowd jumping and singing along.
We were privileged to be treated to the live debut of a brand new number ‘Man Down in Martino‘. Tim explained that the song is about homelessness due to poverty, a global issue.
Several songs from Tim’s latest album ‘Handwriting‘ were played, including the positive and uplifting ‘Bounce Back‘, ‘Who’s Got The Time?‘ and the thought-provoking title track. Older classics including ‘Lion and the Lamb‘, ‘Gary Gilmore’s Eyes‘, ‘My String Will Snap‘ and ‘No Time To Be 21‘ also saw the crowd roaring along.
The audience demanded an encore, and Tim graciously allowed us to choose which two songs he’d finish the evening with!
