Young, loud & snotty, yet melodic and poetic, these high school boys are ready to take on the world!
Florence is home to many masterpieces of Renaissance art and architecture; it’s also home to Indie Punk Rockers Spleen, best described as a melting pot of grunge, punk, and melodious expression. Founded in June 2019, as ‘Big Breast on Fat Boys’ (Name changed to ‘Spleen’ Jan 2024) the rock ‘n’ roll high school three piece of Samuele Riccucci (guitar and vocals), Matteo Innocenti (drums), and Olmo Fantini (guitar) played a series of live performances around Florence, which over time built the band a solid fan base.
Following the name change the band caught the attention of Contempo Records (Christian Death/Pankow/Suicide), and on the 1st of February 2024, Spleen signed a worldwide exclusive deal with the label.
Produced by Ale Sportelli (Raw Power/Not Moving/Prozac +) Spleen’s debut 3 track 7” EP ‘Dystopic School’ is a kick-ass, anthemic guitar-fuelled power punch with bags of swagger and attitude (Think QOTSA, Jimmy Eat World, Green Day) blended with the melodic and lyrical sensitivity of Feeder.

Next step – once the boys finish their final exams this summer (the band are in their last year of high school), then it will definitely be a case of ‘School’s Out’, as work will then begin on their debut album, which will be released early 2025. Live shows to support the release will include UK dates later in the year, including a show with Yur Mum at the iconic Hope and Anchor, Islington, London on the 6th of December.
Also including the tracks ‘Affected Kid‘ and ‘What’s Behind The Sun‘, the EP is released on streaming services on the 21st June and is available in the shops on vinyl from the 14th June. Keep an eye on Spleen’s socials for up-to-date news and tour dates!
