'Breathing Room' arrives ahead of an Autumn solo tour in the US.
Bob Mould has released his first new material since 2020’s ‘Blue Hearts’ album as he prepares to road-test a clutch of new, ‘simple and catchy’ songs.
Recorded at Wisconsin’s Stoughton Opera House last October, the live version of new song ‘Breathing Room‘ is a slow burner that thematically harks back to his late ’00s albums ‘District Line’ and ‘Life and Times’.
The track arrives ahead of an Autumn solo tour of the US that begins on 6 September in Montgomery, New York and swings through New England, the Midwest, and the Southeast. He’ll be supported on the dates by Jawbox frontman J Robbins and then Che Arthur.
“I’m looking forward to bringing even more new material to everyone this fall. Generally speaking, the new compositions are brief, catchy, and simplistic in structure,” he said in a statement.
“The focus of this writing cycle is memorable pop songs, and I can’t wait to test drive the new work in this stripped down solo electric setting!”
After the US dates Mould’s heading down under, with his previously announced solo shows in New Zealand and Australia in November and December.
