Here’s a new kind of Brighton Rock to break your teeth on...
Brighton trio Gulls sound like Sleaford Mods and Bikini Kill in a high-speed collision on the bumper cars! Their own brand of Punk-Rock-Poem-Pop features raw guitars and angry beats with squawking spoken word. Always with a message running through it – here’s a new kind of Brighton Rock to break your teeth on…
Gulls are:
Rhi Kavok: punk poet
Boe H: guitar and vox
Jimmy Guest: drums
New single ‘Womb Raider‘ explores the terrifying attacks on US women and birthing people’s reproductive rights. In February, the Vice President of the USA used a speech in Munich to criticise the prosecution of a UK anti-abortion protestor for breaching a safe zone. Apparently, JD Vance is entitled to ignore Parliament, law makers and the democratic mandate of the majority of the British people in order to pursue his own misogyny.
The track highlights the struggle for bodily autonomy and the political forces seeking to restrict it:
Not only do Gulls make plenty of valid points in ‘Womb Raider‘, they do it in a such a catchy way that we’ll all be singing the chorus in the inevitable mosh pit!
Gulls say; “In these trying times of division, when it’s too easy to spread hate, we need music, more than ever, to bring us together against the systems that would bring us down.”
We couldn’t agree more! ‘Womb Raider‘ is out on 10th July 2026, and you can catch Gulls playing live at Bright N Sleazy 2 Festival (10th – 12th July) on Sunday 12th July – we’ll be there!

Album Review: Fresh from Florence, Italian indie rockers Spleen grunge it up in debut LP ‘Gush’
Italian band Spleen’s debut album gushes grunge-punk and bleeds raw emotion. Dished up with a generous side of indie-punk goodness, ‘Gush’’s DNA can be traced
Usually found jumping around down the front at gigs, I also relish taking photos and videos, singing, speaking with fellow music fans, and asking musicians the questions nobody else does. Writing about my favourite bands and connecting with people who love music too keeps me more-or-less sane! I’ve worked for over 25 years at a video production company, mainly filming live music events, therefore I have an additional backstage perspective on the scene.
