These Californian legends unleash a 6 track EP to keep things rocking!
This band has quite a pedigree, featuring ex-members of Electric Frankenstein, The Living End and Verbal Abuse to name but a few. Heck, even the drummer Dave Bach can be spotted filling in for The Avengers at the moment. With a history of that calibre, I could be forgiven for my high anticipation upon hearing about this new release from The Infamous Stiffs.
The EP is entitled ‘The Ornery Six‘ and features some nice artwork depicting a band of skeletons sporting sombreros (in a true Mexican ‘Day of The Dead’ style). What lies within the grooves (or whatever the digital streaming term is?) are six tracks of unadulterated in your face punk rock ‘n’ roll.

‘No Static‘ kicks things off the way they plan to go on, with a big and rowdy driving bass and a catchy screeching guitar line. Scott Wilkins (aka Snotty Scotty) delivers the throaty goods, and the drums get a pummeling, courtesy of Mr. Birch.
Track 2 is called ‘Loose Screwz‘ which also boasts a catchy guitar line that will keep your head nodding. ‘Evel Mann‘ is a highlight for me, and even slightly reminds me of New Bomb Turks on a good day (or am I having a funny turn?).
‘Lonesoul‘ slows things down for a bit and the intro almost reminded me of The Cult in its delivery. ‘Walk Away’ features an infectious breakdown of a chorus, and this wholesome EP is wrapped up nicely with the track, ‘Top Secret’, which pays homage to L.A Punk legends Kaos and the late Johnny Stingray.
This cool new release from Golden Robot Records can’t go wrong, especially if you enjoy your punk/hardcore with a side order of rock ‘n’ roll! ‘The Ornery Six‘ can be found on streaming HERE

Album Review: Omega Tribe prove ‘Power Pop Punk Rock’ has a future!

I have been writing reviews for Brighton & Hove News, and more recently Vive Le Rock magazine for a few years now. Previously, I could be spotted playing drums for many a band over the decades. A noisy habit developed whilst wearing short trousers at school, and one that has had me touring around the UK and Europe. Punk rock is my life, but I am also quite eclectic. I am an avid gig go-er and music devourer, and can feel out of sorts if a gig date is not on the horizon. I have also been known to put gigs on myself in order to fill those gaps.
