Album review: United States punks Badterms release new LP ‘Nest of Vipers’

Badterms from Boston, Massachusetts release album, their first one with all members present!

Singer Curt Florczak named his band Badterms after some bad experiences in his life which he survived.

Their music is sometimes called ‘skinhead rock n’ roll’, sometimes ‘Oi!’ In an interview, Curt said that in the late 1970s in England, it was clear what Oi! was, with bands like the Cockney Rejects. But now, it is not so clear anymore.

The band members of Badterms are: Curt- vocals, guitar; Jason Hunt– guitar, backing vocals; Mike Reinhalter– drums, backing vocals; Dominic DiNardo– bass, backing vocals. Hans Molnar– guitar, bass, vocals, drums, had an important role on the new album ‘Nest of Vipers‘ but is no longer in the band.

Curt’s earliest punk influences were in the 1980s: the Jam, Sex Pistols, Clash‘s first album and the Ramones. A bit later, he heard the Cockney Rejects.

On their previous records, starting November 2023, only Curt and Hans, both originally from Los Angeles, who had known each other since the 1990s, played; while the others only played live shows; in Europe, Canada and the USA.

All lyrics on their new album ‘Nest of Vipers‘ are by Florczak, except ‘What’s Coming to You‘ by Molnar. Molnar and Florczak produced the record.

The eight songs vary from 1 minute 52 seconds to 3 minutes 23 seconds. The title track ‘Nest of Vipers‘ (different from songs by other bands with the same title) has snakes as metaphors for bad experiences with some humans. Here it is:

After that first song comes ‘Nervous Youth’. Then comes ‘Preaching To The Choir‘:

Next comes ‘Angry Song‘, ‘Nothing Makes Sense‘, ‘What’s Coming To You‘. This is the seventh song on the album: ‘Tarred and Feathered‘, as Badterms played it live in Montréal:

Then, the final track, ‘Sea of Blood‘:

Nest Of Vipers‘ was released through TKO Records (North America) and Contra Records (Europe). In this video, Curt is interviewed on the new album, Oi! and more.

Badterms will tour in Germany and the Czech Republic in May and June 2026.
