A fun and exciting gig to celebrate an incredible album!
Local Punk heroes Rage DC released their fourth album ‘Mind Your Head’ on 12th April 2026, and celebrated its release with an album launch gig that same afternoon – we all love a matinee!
The gig was organised by Ruth Rae of Punktuation Magazine and Guy Mitchell of Shadow Promotions at the Facebar in Reading, UK. We even had Rock Radio UK presenter Griff Griffiths – aka The Great Interrupter – compèring the whole show. It promised to be a massive punk party, and boy was it! So much fun was had by the bands and everyone who attended! It was an amazing turn out!
First, to start off this incredibly fun gig, were Public Service Announcement. What a perfect band to kick off the party! I have seen this band quite a few times and it was so great that they were on the lineup, especially as singer John had undergone a knee replacement just two weeks previously. They treated us to their new single ‘Turn Up The Radio’, for which their music video will be released and debuted here in Punktuation Magazine this Friday 17th April 2026. Public Service Announcement have always had great chemistry with each other and have always provided an outstanding performance, and nothing was different with this set! Really enjoyable and got the crowd dancing!
Next up we had Order #227, a band that I had never seen before this gig. They give out real mosh pit vibes, being the heaviest band on the lineup! They played tracks ‘Get Fucked’ and ‘Pub Crawl’, which were my personal favourites. They are very catchy and appropriate in my opinion! The band even played their oldest track to date ‘In The Bag’. Order #227 got the crowd jumping around and excited!
Third band to play was Red Anger. Singer Jamie is one of the funniest frontmen I’ve met. He just says it how it is, and I love that! The band have a new lineup, with Diz now on guitar and Flo on bass. Jamie always comes into the crowd at gigs, and nothing changed at this gig. He’s very entertaining and fun! Red Anger are a crowd-pleasing band, playing older tracks like ‘Uncle Sam’ and ‘Enemies’, plus great new song ‘Karma’, getting the crowd both singing and dancing along.
And finally, the men of the hour, the mighty Rage DC. Loric, Graham, Chris and Joe had a lot of energy, which is nothing new with them, but being the centre of a whole gig must have felt euphoric to them! They treated us all to some new tracks from the new album, including ‘I Ain’t Listening’, ‘Nothing New’ and the new album title track ‘Mind Your Head’. Everyone loved it of course! There was also a really lovely surprise near the end of the set, with previous drummer Ziggy Morbi guesting on drums for track ‘Normal’ and I have to say, he did an incredible job!
This whole album launch show was so much fun! Lots of dancing and singing, friends, punk family, and amazing bands. I wish it didn’t have to end!
