The exhibition also includes the 2008 Grey Suit worn by Laurent Barnard of Gallows, about which he says;

“I read an interview with Swedish hardcore band Refused where Dennis Lyxzén explained their visual switch from band tees and baggy jeans, to button up shirts and trousers. He said if you dress smarter, people take you more seriously. In 2008 Gallows were about to enter the studio to record our most serious record to date. For us, ‘Grey Britain‘ was a no-holds-barred commentary on the state of our country, a country lost to corruption and greed. An audio assault revealing the plain-as-day criminality within the political and religious constructs that still has a grip on our lives. The grey suits became our uniform, a symbol of how grave things have got, and a way of separating ourselves from the punk kids we used to be. I’d like to say they were specially made but we actually picked them straight off the shelf at the old Topman store on Oxford Street. Tight fitting clothes were still in fashion back in those days, I dare not try the suit on today! ”
