Hailing from Montréal, Canada, Thee Soreheads are a dynamic feminist punk band that have been unapologetically shaking up the Montréal music scene with their raw sound and powerful message. Formed in 2023, the band draw inspiration from iconic acts like Dead Kennedys, Bikini Kill and the high-octane energy of Amyl and the Sniffers, combining fierce riffs with incisive lyrics that challenge the partiarchy and advocate for gender equality.
Thee Soreheads have quickly made a name for themselves, earning acclaim for their electrifying live performances. They opened for renowned act Grimskunk at MTelus in April 2025, and have shared the stage with The Courettes, Les Breastfeeders, and Mary Shelley. Their music resonates with listeners who seek both empowerment and authenticity, making them a standout act in the current punk landscape.
With a growing fanbase and an unwavering commitment to their feminist ideals, Thee Soreheads released their debut EP ‘I’m Not Your Fucking Sex Doll‘ on Outhouse Records in November of last year.

“The goal we wanted to achieve on this EP was to be able to portray the chaos of our live shows sonically, while still handling the feminist subject matter and difficult topics with care and precision. I want our lyrics to give listeners a bit of whiplash; make you laugh one moment, then think and reflect the next.” says Maria.
Thee Soreheads have certainly achieved this aim on ‘I’m Not Your Fucking Sex Doll‘! Opening loud and proud with ‘3 Strikes‘, an ex’s bad behaviour ensures they stay an ex! Guitar driven with caustic, bratty vocals, it’s sure to strike a chord with Amyl fans. We’re shouting along to ‘No Means No‘ – because it seems that some guys still haven’t got the memo.. A garage rocker narrated with a story that’s chillingly familiar to any woman who’s been alone in a bar:
The total wig-out title track deals with yet more misogynistic and sleazy behaviour from partners, bosses and strangers alike. Thee Soreheads tell it exactly as it is in ‘I’m Not Your Fucking Sex Doll‘ – women are sickened by being treated as objects for men to use. Seems it’s conveniently forgotten that half the population are also human, and some are also men’s mothers.. Now they’ve told us what the issues are, Thee Soreheads tell us what they’ll do about it – ‘Riot‘! I love this track – from its rock’n’roll bass lines to its surf guitar riffs to its 60’s garage drumbeat and vocals – it’s a winner!
Having had the misfortune to meet an abusive white supremacist “As you spout out Nazi nonsense that you plagiarized online”, Maria throws his insults right back at him in ‘Ratlike‘. A short, sharp and punktastic song of just 1 minute 45 seconds which rams the point right home. Final track ‘Help‘ highlights the mental and emotional health toll of dealing with all of this crap over the years. “Submit to the voices say I’m not enough that scream inside my head, Cause I’m broken cracked and shattered”. Despite the dark subject, it’s a vibrant rock’n’roller of a tune and a cracking way to end the EP, leaving us wanting more!
“Our music is about being as loud and unapologetic as possible” Maria tells us. “Growing up I was constantly told or taught to not take up too much space as a woman. With this band and the lyrics I write, I reclaim my space. I also love making fun of the sheer audacity and nerve men have in every woman’s life. Every time I’ve been told something heinous by a man, I now not only call them out on it, but think “this might work in a song.” It’s cathartic to have a room full of women screaming back lyrics I’ve written, backed by an amazing band, and it’s turned out to be a good form of therapy.”
Thee Soreheads bring a hard-hitting garage punk sound, influenced by surf rock, riot grrrl and rock’n’roll. Their witty, confrontational lyrics and catchy riffs meld to create wild chaotic anthems of important issues.
