The Massachusetts hardcore crew bring lyrical and musical fire to album two!
Boy, did SkyTigers see me coming from a mile away. Hardcore punk, rock n’ roll and thrash metal all rule my world, and on ‘…Injustice For All’, this Lowell, Massachusetts quartet mix all three to utterly devastating effect. It’s the band’s second album, following 2020’s ‘Eulorgy’, and it sees them address the state of modern-day America with no punches pulled.
They hit the ground running with lead track ‘Immortelevision’; a feast of nimble-fingered riffing, relentless drumming and raw-throated hardcore vocals that sets the tone for what lies ahead. We particularly like the way ‘Rubble Without A Cause’ segues seamlessly into ‘Greenbark’, not least as both songs absolutely slay. Imagine the likes of Rise Against and Comeback Kid at their most abrasive, throw in a touch of Motörhead-esque rock n roll swagger, and finish with the kind of squealing solos that would surely get the nod from any self-respecting 80s thrash shredder. The result? The musical equivalent of a shot of pure adrenaline.
Elsewhere, there are echoes of Iron Maiden (albeit fed through a hardcore blender) on the dual guitar harmonies of ‘Spared No Expense’, and ‘Recreational Insulin’ utterly pulverises everything in its way during its two and a half minutes of breakneck-speed hardcore fury. Truth be told, though – everything on offer here is great, and at only 24 minutes long, this is a highly enjoyable short sharp shock to the senses.
SkyTigers are clearly as pissed off and as fired up as any quality hardcore band should be, and by the time ‘…Injustice For All’ draws to a close, you’ll feel much the same. Look, I first listened to this record when I was about three JD & Cokes deep, and it cut straight through my drunken haze like the keenest of musical knives. If that doesn’t convince you, then trust me, nothing else will. My first great record of 2026, no less – and they get bonus points for the nod to Metallica in the album’s title, too.
