An EP forged in chaos, heart, and defiance from the south London quartet!
When The Ovines set out to record ‘Two Bucks and a Bottle of Ketchup‘, they weren’t just making music, they were documenting the messy raw chaos of modern life. Five tracks of emotional release, biting social commentary, and unfiltered honesty, the EP reflects the struggles, laughter, and grit that define this band’s journey.
There’s a working class defiance in their approach, marrying rebellious punk attitudes with a party-band looseness, drawing as much from the dub reggae roots of Fat Freddy’s Drop as from punk’s raw energy, The Ovines have been shaking up the UK scene since 2017 with their raucous, genre-hopping guitar sound that resists easy categorisation.

London-based with roots in Kent, this band is built on brotherhood, a connection that bleeds into their music, turning every gig and every milestone into something electric. Their chaotic live shows have earned them support slots with The Libertines, The Sherlocks, King Prawn, and Spear of Destiny. Beneath the tongue-in-cheek humour and rowdy energy lies a lyrical focus on the grind of adult life, themes of mental health, financial pressure, and late-twenties disillusionment run through their songs.
At their core, The Ovines are about connection and catharsis. “It’s heart with attitude, a cry for those trying to make it through the day while the world turns a blind eye.”
Opener ‘Ten Street Mile‘ alternates between hard rocking and haunting, as the truth unfolds when someone’s lies are exposed. The two-tier system of wealth distribution comes up in ‘Loose Change‘, with the double meaning of the word ‘change’ used to great effect! Definitely tugs upon the heartstrings.
The EP rollout began with lead single ‘Mind of Mine‘, an introspective number with a reggae beat, wrapped in indie rock guitar riffs. The EP gets even grittier with ‘Two Bucks‘ and ‘Loser Mate‘, upping the pace with rap-style vocals and yet more excellent guitar work.
It’s raw and emotional, both lyrically and musically, and the band’s varied influences are very much apparent. Prepare to have your heart and mind opened as you learn to survive on ‘Two Bucks and a Bottle of Ketchup‘..
The full EP drops on July 25th, followed by a launch party on July 31st at East London’s Signature Brew Haggerston.
