Lots of heaviness and headbanging moments in Brighton!
What an incredible showcase of bands this was! Fluffy Bunny, the host of Underwrld, definitely knows how to put on a banging gig!
To start the show, we had alt metal band Mirrors Of Madness. They treated us all to long and heavy tracks, and even featured an unreleased track – ‘Necronaught’. The bassist wowed us with a 5 string bass, which you don’t see very often. The singer came into the crowd a few times, bouncing and jumping around, and interacted with everyone. This band know how to bring a gig to life!
Next up we had raw noise-makers The Guilty and The Dead. They all sported orange prison jumpsuits and were the first band to have flashing/slow motion lights. It made the performance very different, but very entertaining to watch. Full of headbanging and energy, their cover of Nirvana’s ‘Territorial Pissings’, made the crowd headbang and dance!
Third band o were Liliths Army, who I have reviewed and interviewed previously, so go check them out if you haven’t already! It was a pleasure to finally meet them and see them play live for the first time. I have to say, Sam Sherwood is an absolute beast on the drums! So much energy and loudness, I honestly couldn’t keep my eyes off him. They treated us to a new song they’re recording soon for their second album – ‘Down’, which singer Sylvie Studente explained was about her lockdown heartbreak. So much passion and energy from the whole band!
Next up we had Irish hardcore punk/crossover thrash band R.P.C. They were heavy as fuck! They were also the first band to start a mini mosh pit, which increased in size throughout their set. Funny and full of banter, so raw and passionate, lots of energy and dancing on stage. They performed ‘Anxiety Disco’, a track from their newly released EP. What a treat this band were, absolutely brilliant!
To finish off this gig we had hardcore punk/crossover thrash band Shit Stirrers. They performed a couple of songs about mental health, showing us how important thsi subject is! Lots of dancing, moshing, and skanking from the crowd. So fast and loud, they know how to put on a show, and ended the gig in the best way!
I want to thank Liliths Army for the invitation to this gig, and a massive thankyou to Fluffy Bunny for putting on such an awesome evening! It was an absolute honour and pleasure to review this gig. One of the best nights I’ve had in a long time!
