New EP is heavy and intense but also absolutely sick!
If you don’t know who The Freudian Session are by now, where have you been? They create a lot of fun and chaotic times wherever they go, and have been doing so since 2015 when they formed the band. They are an alternative punk/metal band based in Reading, UK, and have been getting heavier over the years. The band’s influences include The Wildhearts, Metallica, and Rise Against.

While recording ‘Matter Of Time’, they asked friends to join in on gang vocals, including myself, on the 1st November 2024. It was so much fun and an absolute honour to do so! This whole EP is sick as fuck and I am so pleased to be reviewing it. It was released on 3rd May 2025, which was also my birthday, and they played at The Shadow Promotions Shuffle 2 gig that same day at The Butler in Reading, UK.
Meet The Freudian Session:
Jamie Webb – Vocals/guitar
Marly Brown – Guitar/backing vocals
Stephen Tull – Bass/backing vocals
Brad Hanson – Drums

Now for what you’ve been waiting for…the review! I’ve already said this, but I’ll say it again… ‘Matter Of Time’ is sick as fuck! It consists of five tracks, all of which are heavy and raw. They show a lot of passion and emotion, and get the points across. So many insane riffs and basslines, loud and fast drums, and the vocals are on point with the rawness and intensity. Aggressive shouting and screaming, melodic backing/gang vocals, and all the noise! It gives mosh pit and headbanging vibes, and has some lyrics that you can easily sing along to.
‘Matter Of Time’ is definitely an EP to add to your list! So what are you waiting for? Streaming on all platforms, plus you’ll be able to purchase a physical copy from the band at gigs! Go check it out for yourself. You won’t regret it!

Shake Some Acton gig #108, London Water Rats, 23rd Aug 2025
Great tunes played with passion and no end of roguish charm; that’s The Long Tall Texans way, and it’s a recipe that still draws crowds
I’ve been going to gigs since I was 18 years old, and have loved them ever since. They are my second home. I enjoy discovering new bands, meeting punks of different ages, and learning more about the scene. I sing, play guitar, and learning the drums. Punk for life!
