Everyone will feel nostalgic with this new album!
From Salt Lake City, Utah, Bridge The Gap arrived on the punk scene back in 2023, so you’d think they’re quite a newish band. In fact, they were friends back in the 90s and played and released music together until the early 2000s. They had a long break, starting families and pursuing careers. Now they are back with their sophomore album ‘Gainsayer‘, reorganising as a new band, and are better than ever!
Meet Bridge The Gap:
Chad Jensen – Lead vocals and guitar
Ryan Thompson – Drums and backing vocals
Shon Foster – Bass and backing vocals
Jeff Andrews, who is no longer in the band, played lead guitar and backing vocals on the album. The band say “Jeff is still and always will be a collaborator and Bridge The Gap family”.
Bridge The Gap released the first single from the album, ‘In The Throes’, on 13th December 2024, with the music video also being released on the same day.
Going on to release their second single ‘Brothers’ on 22nd January 2025, the band teamed up with Punk News to premier the music video on 28th January 2025.
The third single to be released was ‘Dustbin’ on 27th February 2025, and had the music video premiered at V13 Media on the same day.
The fourth and final single to be released was ‘Broken Language’ on 19th March 2025, with the lyric video being premiered at New Noise Magazine.
The full album ‘Gainsayer’ was recorded at Blasting Room in Fort Collins, CO, and was released on 11th April 2025 via Double Helix Records. The album was produced by punk rock legend Bill Stevenson, who is associated with the Descendents and Black Flag. And was mixed and mastered by Grammy Award winner Jason Livermore, who is associated with NOFX and Rise Against. The album is a follow-up to their previous album ‘Secret Kombinations’.
The band tell us “We’re very proud of ‘Gainsayer’, and after sitting on it for about a year, we’re equal parts excited and relieved to finally have it out in the world. We hope our fans love it as much as we do, and that it resonates with new listeners just discovering Bridge The Gap. Shout-out to Bill, Jason, Andrew, Colton, Miles, and Jonathan at The Blasting Room for helping us bring these songs to life”.
Now on to the review, which I have to say, was an absolute pleasure to do! Really enjoyed this whole album a lot. Catchy songs, with lots of emotion, and has awesome riffs, powerful bass lines, and loud drums! It has a 90s nostalgia feel to it, and will definitely get you up dancing and singing along! Very melodic, with harmonising vocals, and overall just a fun album to listen to.
