The Line-up for the sixth annual 'Putting the Fast in Belfast' also features Problem Patterns, and DJ Terri Hooley.
Stiff Little Fingers are ‘Putting the Fast in Belfast’ for a sixth time as their annual hometown festival takes shape.
This year the 17 August event will feature The Damned, The Skids, Problem Patterns, and DJ Terri Hooley, founder of the Good Vibrations record shop and its associated label.
SLF’s singer and guitarist Jake Burns said: “It’s a real joy to be heading back to Belfast again this August, and especially to have such a fantastic line-up of friends and talent with us. The Damned have played Custom House Square with us before, and it’s brilliant to have such a spectacular and influential band return.
“The Skids are contemporaries of ours who we’ve been friends with since 1979, so we’re delighted they could join us. And kicking the whole thing off is local band, Problem Patterns, who I’ve only seen on video but who have blown me away with their energy, commitment, and songs. I’m really looking forward to seeing them play. All in all, this will be a really special evening. I can’t wait!”
Ahead of that Stiff Little Fingers, whose classic debut album ‘Inflammable Material’ this year celebrates its 45th anniversary, have announced what will be their last US coast-to-coast tour.
May’s “Hate Has No Home Here” tour, on which they’ll be joined by Belfast’s own Ricky Warwick, kicks off on 1 May at Boston’s Paradise Rock Club and winds up in Las Vegas at the Punk Rock Bowling festival.
Burns said; “We’re fired up and looking forward to playing in America again for the first time in five years. Given the amount of touring we undertake, we’ve decided this is our final US coast-to-coast tour. That doesn’t mean we won’t play occasional dates in the U.S. in the future, but there will be fewer select shows, probably scheduled around festivals.”
The tour is named after one of SLF’s new songs. “Hate Has No Home Here”, the song, was inspired by the title of a grassroots campaign in Jake’s Chicago neighbourhood that brought the community together to fight hate speech and intolerance.
