An incendiary new single from Desperate Measures - Sublime Destruction - drops this week!
Punk funsters and loveable rogues Desperate Measures NZ have had one hell of a year – recording a new album (out early 2024), releasing several excellent new singles, and playing all over the place – including support slots for UK Subs final tour last month!
Their latest release ‘Sublime Destruction‘ is available from Friday 13th October, but the video is out TODAY – check it out below:
Insanely brilliant guitar riffs from Gaff over James Sherry‘s dynamic and defined drumming make this a tune to turn up the volume for! The blood-red video overlaid with the song’s stark lyrics hammers the message home.
Frontman Eugene Butcher describes the single; “Sublime Destruction is about how the normal everyday things we take for granted are slowly being taken away and eroded, whether it’s our rights, the environment or even the health system. Blink and they will be gone.”

The single’s cover is a picture of the old newsagent where Christchurch, NZ native Eugene used to buy N.M.E and Sounds as a kid – destroyed by the 2011 earthquake in the city.

Catch Desperate Measures playing near you – they have a few remaining 2023 tour dates – see below:

Punk legend Charlie Harper recounts many escapades and amusing moments from throughout his long life in his autobiography ‘An Anarchy Of Demons’. It will appeal
Usually found jumping around down the front at gigs, I also relish taking photos and videos, singing, speaking with fellow music fans, and asking musicians the questions nobody else does. Writing about my favourite bands and connecting with people who love music too keeps me more-or-less sane! I’ve worked for over 25 years at a video production company, mainly filming live music events, therefore I have an additional backstage perspective on the scene.
