Piss Kitti shared the video for their new single ‘Leather Forever’, the first track to be taken from the band's forthcoming album ‘Don't Be Afraid.’
Commenting on the new tracks, the band said: “‘Leather Forever’ is about the feeling of being in a dark place worrying about other people and feeling lost within yourself, not wanting to be here anymore, but then a switch flicks and you realise everything is okay. Noticing beauty in all the things that you never stopped and took the time to appreciate. That feeling when it’s been dark and rainy for a whole week then you wake up one morning, and the sun is beaming through your window, and you can feel the heat, and you get comfort from it.”
“‘I’m Jammed’ is about the times you get yourself stuck in a situation with someone you care about so much, but they aren’t being open and honest with you. You want them to open up to you but they keep doing things that let you down. You can’t stop forgiving them for their actions because you believe eventually they’ll see their mistakes and everything will be okay.”
Bored of attending gigs in Liverpool and seeing the same type of acts and faces over and over again, PISS KITTI were formed by Esme Brown and Clara Cicely in 2017. Born out of the desire for inclusivity for queer people within the UK music scene and beyond, and frustrated with the lack of representation they saw, the pair decided to start the band that they felt was missing from their local scene.
Their protozoic brand of garage punk has since evolved from their short, aggressive early songs to a more melodic and polished sound that’s recently landed them support slots with Black Lips, Dream Wife and a tour with Amyl and the Sniffers.
The band’s debut EP, For The Lovers, was released in 2021—a collection of self confessed love songs rooted in romantic turmoil, with new single ‘Leather Forever’/’I’m Jammed’ serving as the first taste of new material from the quartet since.
The band will be hitting the road throughout this spring on a mix of UK headline dates, support slots with Grandma’s House and Bruise Control, and an appearance at Manchester Punk Festival, with more live dates TBA (see below for listings).
