May’s update… This month has been as busy as ever!!!
I managed to get my boat race out and about to hang out with this season’s Punk Rock Creative, Peter Jones – Rotator Vinyl boss, long-term steadfast member of Paranoid Visions, and guitarist for the Molly Vulpyne Band – at The Lexington gig in London. The Lexington is a gorgeous venue, with a beautiful downstairs bar complete with chandelier. Definitely check out Molly Vulpyne’s new album ‘Houndstooth and the Hum’!

I also hung out with Season 1 guest, punk poet Cherry B, got hugs from Wasp of Rites of Hadda… but only managed to get a photograph with Paul, Rites of Hadda’s brilliant and probably the world’s friendliest bass player! Rites of Hadda always put on a fantastic show, and this time they treated us to the legendary tale of “Specsavers and the size 10 dress” on stage. If you haven’t seen them live yet, you really should.

I also bumped into John Sharland and the rest of the Dammit Team at the Dammit Records band showcase in London, where I got to see some brilliant bands play for the first time. Dammit Records are fantastic at showcasing and supporting new bands, and the atmosphere was brilliant throughout the event.
And finally… all of our episodes have now officially launched on YouTube. People asked, requested… and we delivered.
Big thanks to everyone supporting Punk Rock Creatives Podcast – more random chaos coming soon!!!

In May We Chatted To…
Peter Coyne (The Godfathers)
It was great to speak to Peter. I love his authenticity and directness. I know some people don’t always like that approach, but I respect it – either say what you mean or don’t say it at all.
We talked about everything from the early days of The Sid Presley Experience to the current line-up, which includes former Heavy Drapes members, all of whom Peter clearly holds in high esteem. We also discussed the late, great Dusty Springfield, and Dolly Parton’s incredible work supporting literacy programmes for young people in her hometown.
The conversation naturally moved into current affairs and social observations, and how those experiences help shape The Godfathers’ lyrics. We also talked about playing gigs abroad and Peter’s favourite gig with the Godfathers, supporting Sisters of Mercy – you need to listen to the episode to hear more!
Honest, direct, intelligent… with more than a hint of dry wit.

Sid Truelove (Rubella Ballet)
The mystery of the fifth floating tom made an appearance in this chat, alongside Sid’s incredible musical ability and contribution to shaping the anarcho-punk sound through bands such as Flux of Pink Indians and Rubella Ballet. Sid talks about his best friend Colin Jerwood (Conflict), and how much he’s missed him since Colin’s sad and unexpected death last year.
A truly amazing and creative human being, it was fascinating hearing Sid talk about Zillah Minx’s film, how they first met Zillah, life in the Poison Girls squat, and being a genuine supporter, ally of women within punk and the importance of documenting women’s contributions to the scene.
Sid spoke passionately about creativity, music, and community, and this was one of those conversations that could easily have gone on for hours.

This episode touched on some heavier subject matter, including sexual violence and domestic abuse. We discussed Punktuation! Magazine, the current punk scene, and the importance of giving women a platform and space to speak openly.
We also spoke about the episode where I interviewed domestic abuse expert Jo Maujskis, and how that conversation led naturally into broader discussions around safety, support, and representation within alternative communities.
It was great hearing Ruth and Hannah talk about the bands they love and the passion they have for the scene. They go above and beyond supporting both new and established bands alike. Like our next guest, they understand just how important their role is – not everyone can get to gigs or easily access new music.
Poverty, disability, caring responsibilities, and family life can all create barriers for people wanting to engage with live music and the punk scene. A Magazine like Punkuation! is vital for keeping people connected to the music, culture, and community they love.

Gwen Ever
I really enjoyed chatting with Deal Radio’s rock ’n’ roll drag queen, Gwen Ever, about her show “A Low Life in High Heels” named after Holly Woodlawn‘s autobiography! We talked about a subject very close to my heart… shoes and dresses… alongside our shared love of Andy Warhol’s work.
There were hilarious conversations about getting stuck down a well — although I was mildly disappointed it didn’t happen in heels! Gwen also told me about getting thoroughly bollocked by a health and safety inspector at a festival for climbing a ladder in high heels.
I first met Gwen Ever through Paul Bedford’s Kick The Doors PR. Apparently, we had actually met before, but I was heavily pregnant at the time, had my then five-year-old with me, and was probably either playing a gig or running around after my son backstage!
Anyone who has played gigs or attended festivals while pregnant will understand just how surreal the experience can be. So, if I met you during one of those periods and don’t immediately remember meeting you as my non-pregnant self, please don’t take offence!
We also talked about The Pukes, Steve Ignorant, Vi Subversa, and Gwen growing up around bands such as The Small Faces and The Kinks.
