Derry Punks PARKER Reveal New Single ‘Ucluelet’.
Derry, Northern Ireland melodic punk newcomers PARKER are delighted to reveal their new single Ucluelet which is released 26th May 2023.
The track is the latest to be taken from the band’s forthcoming debut album, Never Let This Go, set for release on 30th June 2023, and available to preorder now.
Commenting on the song, singer and guitarist Dylan Bradley says: “Ucluelet is a song about a small town on the west coast of Canada that I played a show in while on tour there about five years ago. I fell in love with the place and will never forget it. I’ve always wanted to go back but still haven’t returned—this song is as close as I’ve got. I actually came up with the initial idea for the song whilst I was in Canada in 2018 but didn’t actually get round to finishing it until 2020 during lockdown when I was writing the album. It’s definitely the closest thing on the record to a sentimental, nostalgic love song.
The band have also announced a summer 2023 run of UK/IRE headline tour dates including album launch parties in Belfast and Derry, plus a London date on 17th July at New Cross Inn, with tickets on sale now (see below for listings).
Produced by Cahir O’Doherty (New Pagans, Fighting With Wire, Jetplane Landing) and engineer Allan McGreevy (New Pagans, The Rupture Dogs), debut album Never Let This Go was recorded in January 2022 after a period of intensive writing and rehearsing during the pandemic.
Ucluelet follows on from a successful string of early singles Never Miss, Problems, Superhero and Ruin My Life which received praise from Nels Hylton on BBC R1’s Future Alternative, The Sunday Life, Across The Line, BBC Radio Ulster / BBC Radio Foyle, Chord Blossom, and Ireland Live, catching the ears of international alternative tastemakers at Bring The Noise UK, Punktuation Magazine, The Punk Site, Maximum Volume, The AU Review, Chordblossom, Dig With It and Scene Point Blank.
