Los Fastidios bring Joy Joy Joy to Scandinavia!
Since the UK Subs stopped touring a couple of years back, Italian street punks Los Fastidios might very well be the hardest touring band on the scene. Founded in Verona, Italy in 1991 by Enrico De Angelis, who is still fronting the band, and with a tour itinerary clocking in at an astonishing +100 gigs a year, covering not only all of Europe, but also north and south America, they are a well-oiled machine when it comes to putting on a great and energetic live act!

Kicking off with the life-affirming ‘You’re so Young‘ from their recent 13th album ‘Lovesteady‘ followed by ‘Radio Babylon‘ they’ve got the crowd eating out of their hands from the get-go. Mixing powerful catchy 80’s StreetPunk style terrace chants with upbeat 2-tone style Ska and reggae, Enrico and spouse Elisa enthusiastically urge the audience into a frenzy, skanking all over the stage, radiating positive energy with each and every song.

With lyrics addressing social injustice, racism, sexism, LGBTQ and capitalism (and sometimes, just everyday situations) it would be easy to imagine Los Fastidios as a heavy-hearted and gloomy act – but nothing could be more wrong. The band literally ooze infectious happiness and joy, belting through ‘Take a Stand‘, ‘Where are you Now‘ and ‘Skabillyboggie‘ where guitarist Bibol steps up front for a smattering 1950’s style guitar solos.

‘Beverly‘ from 2021’s ‘XXX – The Number of the Beat‘ urges all the women to the front, and soon after onto the stage, to join the band in an extended chorus of this feminist anthem. Even though the lyrics are a mix of Italian and English (with some French, Spanish and German thrown in for good measure) you really can’t resist joining in, no matter which language is being used.

Closing the gig with ‘Antifa Hooligans‘, after just about an hour, the crowd still wants more.. We needn’t worry as the band comes back on stage for a NINE song encore, consisting of a fantastic rendition of The Selecter’s ‘3 Minute Hero‘; a mashup medley of The Specials’ ‘You’re Wondering Now’ with Cock Sparrer’s ‘We’re Coming Back‘. and my personal favourite from the new album, ‘Non Cambiare Mai’. As the band wave their goodbyes after ending with the ska version of ‘Antifa Hooligans‘, the sweat-drenched crowd spills out to the bar and to the merch table.
Los Fastidios hit British shores in August for Rebellion Festival, playing both Empress Ballroom and the Almost Acoustic Stage plus the after party at The Galleon on the Monday night, as well as a headline gig the next evening at the New Cross Inn in London. Whatever you do – don’t miss them!
