Punk rage with the will to change!
Swedish queercore band ill jill are an innovative new band to the local punk scene, forming back in 2023. Their musical background spans different genres and projects and is a mix of members from, among others, Syndromet , Limba Power and Animal Nights. They tell us “We don’t take ourselves too seriously – but our message is important.” They have played many gigs over the past couple years, building their fan base wherever they go.
Their debut EP ‘My Body Is Mine To Decide’ consists of 4 tracks and was released yesterday, 30th January 2026, both digitally and as a 7-inch red vinyl. It was recorded by Jonas Jönsson at Studio LV5 and mastered by Björn Engelmann at Cutting Room. The cover was designed by Lia Jacobi.

ill jill is for everyone who feels like they don’t fit into the norm – on stage and in the audience – and wants to shift the focus from tired love ballads and romanticization of the hetero/norm/cis narrative to celebrating all the wonderful, different, lonely and dysfunctional people; to everyone who doesn’t have, or gets, a voice of their own. They say “When we stand on stage, it’s a call to the audience to let go and be exactly who they are. With us, it’s always “Girls and queers to the front!”

Meet ill jill:
Lia Jacobi – Lead vocals
Lisa Lidehäll – Bass and vocals
Ida Hamrin – Guitar and vocals
Olle Groth – Drums
The band mixes riot grrrl, melodic punk, hardcore and C86 into a unique sound with equal parts attitude and swing, and with the self-confidence that comes after 10,000 hours in other punk constellations. Despite only being formed a couple years ago, they have already made a name for themselves at all sorts of punk festivals, and having now released their debut EP, will be following it up with an album later this year. Very exciting indeed!

ill jill released their debut single ‘Screaming Inside’ on 29th October 2025, and second single ‘PUKE’ on 26th November 2025.
On ‘Screaming Inside’, the band mixes hard riffs with singalong, angst-filled choruses about the climate crisis and the impending end of the world:
‘PUKE’ is an angry, sarcastic song about preconceived notions, small abuses in everyday life and the feeling of wanting to scream, fight back and puke at a society where patriarchal structures and behaviors are still normative:
Now on to the review for ‘My Body Is Mine To Decide’! ill jill are certainly a unique and passionate band. Catchy, easy-to-sing-along-to tracks, with hard-hitting riffs and truthful lyrics. Lia has such a distinctive voice, with her screams being a bit squealed at times, in a good way of course! Their vocal harmonisations are perfectly matched and so melodic. ill jill are definitely a band I would absolutely love to see live!
If you stand with this band and their values, then you will love them! Go check out ill jill’s debut EP ‘My Body Is Mine To Decide’ and hear for yourself how individual they are! Avaialble on digital download or vinyl from HERE, and streaming HERE.
