Got a lust for life? Iggy Pop’s old Ferrari’s up for sale! Want it?

Hot on the heals of ex-Strangler’s Hugh Cornwell’s car coming on the market, Iggy Pop’s Ferrari 308 GTS QV is now up for sale

A Ferrari formerly owned by Iggy Pop who used it to “race around and blow off steam” is up for sale. The ‘Godfather of Punk’ says he “drove the shit outta it” before selling it following a 100mph run-in with the Miami cops. Speaking earlier this year in an interview with GQ magazine, Pop described the Ferrari, which was built in 1984, as “wonderful”.

“Whenever I wanted to blow off steam, I’d just race around the freeways here.”

According to the article, Pop sold his Ferrari 308 in 2002 after a 100mph run-in with the cops.

“I thought something terrible’s gonna happen, so I just got rid of it,” Pop admitted.

The electric blue speedster will be sold at an online auction hosted by British auctioneer H&H Classics on September 16.

It has 61,000 miles on the clock and is expected to fetch up to £30,000.

The auction website says that vehicle was built in 1984 but has gone under a number of renovations and been owned by numerous collectors since. Its history file, in addition to Pop’s comments earlier this year, confirm the car’s exciting provenance.

One former owner, Kostas Dino Linardakis, also posted about the vehicle’s ownership on a Ferrari forum in 2017.

“It was indeed owned by Iggy Pop. My mechanic in Ft Lauderdale used to service the car when Iggy owned it,” Kostas confirmed,

Damian Jones of H&H Classics described the 308 as an “inexpensive entry to Ferrari ownership with a fascinating back story”.

Seriously! What’s not to love about this car – especially if you have a ‘Lust for Life’?
