Power punk duo’s latest is honest and unfiltered, with relatable tracks!
LA / Seattle power punk duo Mr. Dinkles formed back in 2019. They blend garage rock, lo-fi punk, post-grunge, and sharp-tongued power punk with a mix of humour, frustration and genuinely catchy songwriting, underneath the chaos.
Across new EP ‘R.I.P.T.’, Mr. Dinkles confront the realities of modern adulthood, from economic uncertainty and social media fatigue to political frustration and personal burnout, documenting life in a constant state of overstimulation. Rather than offering easy answers, the band embraces the contradictions – finding moments of humour amid anxiety, and resilience amid exhaustion.

What makes ‘R.I.P.T.‘ especially compelling is its refusal to separate the personal from the political. The songs often feel like journal entries written in real time – capturing the experience of being young, online, overwhelmed, and still trying to find meaning in the messy.

Third single ‘Letter to Elon’ dropped on 17th April 2026. “‘Letter to Elon’ is less about Elon himself, but about humanity,” the band shares, “emphasizing to choose love and compassion over power and technology.”
Fourth song on ‘R.I.P.T.’, “’Grinding my Teeth’ is about realizing how hard I have to work in the music industry as well as how vulnerable the job can be with online presence, dealing with burnout, and reevaluating my priorities,” says vocalist and guitarist Mac Rettig.
The band released their final single ‘Socialism Ditty’ on 15th May 2026. “’Socialism Ditty’ is about billionaires taking everyone’s money,” explains Mac.

Well, this band certainly are unique! I love that their lyrics are very honest and unfiltered, and they speak openly about the current political and social climate from the perspective of a woman in her 20s. They use humour and genuine frustration to get their points across. Raw emotion, heavy, loud, melodic, chaotic, relatable, and fun. These are just a few words to describe their music. They show a lot of passion and reflection throughout their tracks. The jagged guitar riffs, raw vocals, and hard-hitting drumming brings it all together and helps make ‘R.I.P.T.‘ a great EP to listen to.
