Bandcamp – Keeps on Giving to Artists!

Because the pandemic is far from over, Bandcamp have announced they will continue to hold ‘Bandcamp Fridays’ on the first Friday of every month until the end of the year.

Bandcamp Fridays started in March when the online music platform announced that they would waive their share of revenue and donate all sales to artists for 24 hours to support artists impacted by the pandemic.

In the past few months the music community has come together in a huge way: in just four days, fans put more than $20 million directly into the pockets of artists and labels.

Since the pandemic hit in March, fans have bought more than $75 million worth of music and merch directly from artists and labels, and to date, fans have paid artists over half a billion dollars on Bandcamp.

Spotify’s money-grabbing CEO Daniel Ek – who last week angered artists around the world when he said that ‘musicians should make more music’ to ensure they make sufficient earnings on the streaming platform – should take note and perhaps start paying artists properly for hosting their music too!

Well done Bandcamp!
