Pop-punk favourites All Time Low are to release a graphic novel inspired by their 2017 album ‘Last Young Renegade’.
At the time it pushed new boundaries seeing the Baltimore rockers move away from their pop-infused punk taking a deeper, more anthemic (dare we say ‘mainstream’) pop-driven direction.
Now in 2021, the band have taken the concepts of that album and teaming up with Z2 Comics, its writer Tres Dean, co-creator Robert Wilson IV, and artist Megan Huang and created the graphic novel ‘All Time Low presents – Young Renegades‘.
The bands frontman Alex Gaskarth recently spoke out about the project;
“When we wrote our album ‘Last Young Renegade’, we imagined an entire world separate of our own.
It was almost a ’ what if’ version of All Time Low – both with our musical sound and with the visual narrative we put together around it.
“Creating the graphic novel allows us to tell more stories in the universe we imagined. We delve deeper into the mythos and thematic ideas that were at play when we were celebrating that era.
“Young Renegades is another look into the continuity through an incredible medium we’ve never collaborated in before.
“Working with the storytellers and artists on this project has been an incredible new undertaking. We can’t wait for everyone to enjoy it with us.”
The Young Renegades graphic novel is due for release in June 2021 with a ‘Super Deluxe Edition‘ packs offering and alternate cover plus more for collectors.
Since the publication of Murder Ballads, Z2 Comics co-publishers Josh Frankel and Sridhar Reddy have released a series of graphic novels based on music and the bands that produce it.
